December Movie Club: The Running Man (1987 vs. 2025)
Our December Movie Club is going to be a fun one — we’re doing a then vs. now comparison!
On December 2nd, we’ll be discussing both versions of The Running Man:
🎥 1987 Version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger
🎥 2025 Version starring Glen Powell
Both films are based on the 1982 novel by Stephen King (written under the name Richard Bachman).
Here’s how to watch:
📺 1987 Version — streaming free on Paramount+, or rent for ~$4 on Apple, Amazon Prime, etc.
🍿 2025 Version — hits theaters Friday, November 14th, so catch it on the big screen before our meeting!
This will be a great discussion comparing story, tone, themes, and how the same source material gets reimagined nearly 40 years apart.
